Are virtual SAP evaluations DOT compliant?

Virtual SAP services are conducted in accordance with current DOT regulations, federal guidance, and applicable professional standards regarding remote SAP services.

Can everything be completed virtually?

Not always. While many SAP services may be completed remotely, certain requirements such as drug and alcohol testing, treatment recommendations, education programs, or employer-specific requirements may still need to be completed in person depending on the situation, provider availability, employer policies, or DOT requirements.

Do you provide Return-to-Duty drug testing?

No. SAPs do not perform Return-to-Duty drug or alcohol testing directly. Clients are responsible for completing required testing through approved testing facilities, employers, TPAs, or designated service agents.

Do you report directly to the FMCSA Clearinghouse?

SAP recommendations and required reporting are completed in accordance with DOT and FMCSA Clearinghouse requirements when applicable to the case.

Can you guarantee a Return-to-Duty outcome?

No. DOT regulations prohibit SAPs from guaranteeing Return-to-Duty approval. All recommendations and follow-up determinations are made independently based on the client’s compliance, progress, documentation, and DOT guidelines.

What happens after the SAP evaluation?

After the evaluation, clients receive recommendations that may include education, treatment, follow-up services, drug/alcohol testing requirements, or additional compliance steps before eligibility for the Return-to-Duty process.

Are employers or TPAs allowed to contact you?

Yes. With proper consent and documentation, communication may occur with employers, DERs, TPAs, treatment providers, and other authorized parties as permitted under DOT regulations.

Yes. Services are handled professionally and confidentially in accordance with applicable federal regulations, professional ethics, and documentation standards.

What should clients know before booking?

Clients should understand that SAP services are federally regulated processes governed by DOT regulations. Booking a SAP evaluation does not guarantee immediate Return-to-Duty eligibility, employer reinstatement, or removal of DOT requirements. Clients are responsible for complying with all recommendations, employer requirements, and federal regulations throughout the process.
